Description

Dremel Multi Chuck 4486

This Dremel chuck can be used with rotary tool models 3000, 4000, 8220, Lite, 4300, Stylo+, Micro, 7700, 8100, 8200, and 200.

Also for use with Dremel attachments 212, 225, and 575. Not for use with 4200.

This Drill Bit Set for your Dremel contains some of our most popular size diamond drill bits along with a Dremel Multi Chuck 4486 to hold them with, and will allow you to drill holes in a number of hard materials:

  • Drilling holes in pebbles, small stones or slate pieces
  • Drilling holes in Sea Glass, beach glass or small glasswork
  • Drilling holes in shell or bone
  • Drilling holes in pieces of china, ceramic, porcelain, beach pottery, glazed pottery

Simply attach the Dremel Chuck to your Dremel Tool and using one of the diamond drill bits or diamond core drills start drilling and create something beautiful. Always remember:

  • Use diamond drill bits wet to ensure cleaner cutting, and preserve the life of your drill bit.
  • Set your Dremel Multi Tool to the lowest speed setting. Do not exceed 10,000 RPM.
  • Use very little pressure, let the weight of your rotary tool do the work.
  • Always use protective eyewear and a mask.

We have a number of easy-to-follow tutorials on how to drill holes in hard materials, take a look at these for some guidance:

  2. How to Drill Sea Glass

Some helpful notes and possible queries about the contents of your kit:

There are two Dremel attachments that can be used to hold these small diamond drill bits, the Dremel Multi Chuck 4486 which you have in this set, and the Dremel Collet Nut Kit 4485.

We have chosen the Multi Chuck for you as it is very popular when using drill bits and attachments that have different shanks (the end that goes into your rotary tool, not the drill bit end) as it is easy to change between drill bits without the need for a wrench and various collets. Simply twist to open the teeth on the chuck and release or tighten in the new drill bit.

The Dremel Multi Chuck 4486 will fit all Dremel Drills except Model 4200 and will also fit a Dremel Flexible Shaft.

Your set has two popular sizes of Small Diamond Drill Bits: 1mm and 2mm and two popular sizes of small diamond core drills: 1.5mm and 2.5mm. These sizes have been chosen as they are ideal for most jewellery making purposes when you need to make a hole in hard materials. All these drill bits and more can also be purchased by clicking here.

The small diamond drill bits have a solid end and are long-lasting, and are particularly good for those extra tough pieces of sea glass, fused glass or stones.

The small diamond core drills have a hollow core running through the drill bit which allows water to swirl up and around inside the core to keep the drill bit cool. They have a smaller surface area than the small diamond drill bits so may not last as long but tend to drill holes more quickly. Great for the beginner.

Please could you advise whether the diamond drill bits will drill holes in quartz beach stones? Thank you.

Julia

You will need to use the small diamond drill bits, of which this set has two, 1 x 1mm and 1 x 1.5mm

Please note that any pebble that has Quartz or flint running through it are the hardest to drill and take the longest to drill, have a read of the section entitled 'Choosing a good pebble to drill' in this article we wrote: How To Drill Pebbles
