How to use Diamond Drill Bits:
You will need an adjustable chuck attachment for your drill to hold the small shank sizes of these drill bits. Please look at the technical 'tab' to read the shank size dimensions.
If you have a Dremel we highly recommend using the Dremel 4486 Multi Chuck to hold these small drill bits. All sizes from 0.75mm upwards can be held in this chuck.
Tip: The following three crucial elements when drilling will prevent the diamond grit from wearing off or burning away, prevent the drill bit from snapping (too much pressure applied), prevent your material from cracking, and extend the life of your drill bits.
- Use with plenty of cold water (if drilling in a container, change the water if it turns cloudy)
- Use at a slow speed. Do not exceed 10,000 RPM
- Use at low pressure. Let the weight of your rotary tool do the work.

Small Diamond Drill Bits Versus Small Diamond Core Drills
These small diamond drill bits are solid and, therefore, have a larger surface area than the small diamond core drills, making them more robust.
Due to a larger diamond coated area than the core drills, they may last longer and drill more holes. They must certainly be used for drilling holes in particularly tough sea glass, gemstone, porcelain and any stone high on the Moh's scale.
Small Diamond core drills will glide through the material a little easier and more quickly, making them the ideal choice for beginners.
When using a diamond cylinder drill bit for glass or diamond drill bits for stone, users often keep a combination of both types in their tool kit in case they come across a tough piece. You may also find a personal preference for using one over the other.
