Tool Compatibility
These drill bits have very small shank sizes. To use them with a Dremel or rotary tool, you’ll need a compatible adjustable chuck.
We recommend the Dremel 4486 Multi Chuck, which holds all sizes from 0.75mm upwards securely. Please refer to the Technical tab for individual shank dimensions.
Drilling Tips for Best Results
To maximise the life of your diamond drill bits and prevent damage to your material, follow these three essential tips:
- Use with plenty of cold water, this keeps the drill bit cool and flushes away debris. Change the water if it turns cloudy.
- Use at a slow speed, no more than 10,000 RPM.
- Apply light pressure, let the tool’s weight do the work. Too much pressure can snap the bit or damage the stone.

Small Diamond Drill Bits vs Small Diamond Core Drills
These small diamond drill bits are solid-tipped and more robust than small diamond core drills. They offer a larger diamond-coated surface area, making them ideal for tougher materials such as high-grade sea glass, gemstones, porcelain and stone high on the Mohs scale.
Diamond core drills, by contrast, drill faster and with less resistance, making them easier for beginners to handle. Many users prefer to keep both in their toolkit depending on the task.
